As of December 1, 2023, real estate agents in Ontario must provide the RECO (Real Estate Council of Ontario) Information Guide to buyers and sellers prior to assistance or services being provided in a real estate transaction.
It provides clarity on the different ways parties to a transaction can be represented, along with topics including financial compensation, duties and obligations between real estate agents and consumers/clients, risks involved in making certain representation choices, and more.
There is an acknowledgement section at the end of the guide that is helpful to sign to show that the guide has been provided and explained.
